There’s an air of excitement at Columbus Public Library. The events surrounding the ONE BOOK-ONE COLUMBUS have been so much fun and very informative. If you haven’t found a chance to participate, please check below--- I’ve taken this opportunity to publish the Calendar/Schedule of Events instead of my usual reviews.

Marley & Me” may be purchased at Tooley Drug Store. Of course there are many copies available to be checked out at Columbus Public Library.

Best Furry Friends Photo Contest
Does your pet have what it takes to be named “Cutest in Columbus?” Let the public decide! The winner will have their picture taken for a “READ” poster to be displayed at the library!
1. Submit your photo February 1-28 at the front desk of the library or to cplfriends@neb.rr.com . Photos must be labeled with owner’s name and phone number and may not be framed or matted. Entries become the property of the Friends of the Columbus Public Library and will not be returned. Photos will be displayed at the library and at www.columbustelegram.com.
2. View the display at the library March 1-31 and vote for your favorite.
The contest is open to all species of pet. No late entries will be allowed. Photos must be appropriate to the theme of the contest. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any photo not in good taste. In the case of a tie, final judgment will be made by the Friends of the Columbus Public Library Board. Staff of the Columbus Public Library and members of the Friends of the Columbus Public Library Board are not eligible to participate in this contest.
Copyright of the submitted photograph belongs to the photographer. Entry in the contest constitutes a declaration of ownership or lease of that photograph’s copyright by the person submitting the image.

The Friends of the Columbus Public Library is encouraging area residents to enter an essay contest in conjunction with the "One Book One Columbus" event. As you have probably heard, we have chosen the book "Marley and Me" for our "One Book One Columbus" event.
The Friends of the Columbus Public Library will judge local residents’ essays based on the theme "My Favorite Pet Story is …" and determine the top winners. Winners will have their stories published in the Columbus Telegram along with a winning certificate.
Residents wishing to participate should drop off their essays at the library or email to: friendsessay@yahoo.com
Well, there you have it!! Cut this out and mark your calendars. There’s something for everyone---young and old.
