Motivational Cds for Traveling

I often like the peace and quiet of driving down a highway with the radio and cd player shut off. Maneuvering the car while watching the scenery go by can be relaxing.

There are other times, however, when I will want to multi-task while driving. If I know I’m going to be on the road for a few hours, I’ll listen to one of the Library’s personal motivation or salesmanship-type cds. When I’ve reached my destination, I’m pumped up about whatever the topic, whether it was goal setting or selling and persuasion.

Ken Blanchard’s latest audio book, “The Leadership Pill, the Missing Ingredient in Motivating People Today” is an especially good 1 and ¼ hour pep talk on how to become a more successful manager and team leader. According to Blanchard, the key ingredients in the leadership pill are integrity, partnership, and affirmation.

James Dale’s “The Obvious, All You Need to Know in Business, Period” is a 3 and ½ hour cd that discusses the obvious ingredients of success: “Show up;” “Don’t be a jerk;” “Tell the truth;” “ Trust someone besides yourself;” and “Start over tomorrow, but don’t do it the same way.”

“Connect, Building Success Through People, Purpose, and Performance” is by the bestselling author of “Attitude is Everything”, Keith Harrell. This 8-hour program explains why success is built on the connections we make with people and ideas. The author reveals the seven core competencies needed to connect individuals and organizations to maximize personal and professional success.

“A Healthy Dose of Motivation” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen is a 6-hour audio program—just right for a trip to Kansas City and back. Canfield uses inspiring stories about real people. His “Aladdin Factor” explores the reasons why people won’t ask for what they want, and the ten benefits of asking. His challenge of “Dare To Win” helps the listener expand his expectations, affirm his self-worth and find a true purpose in life.

Steve Chandler’s “17 Lies That Are Holding You Back & The Truth That Will Set You Free” is a 3 and 1/2 hour program that describes the self-defeating lies we tell ourselves that prevent us from being our best. Included among those lies are “It’s Who You Know.”, “I’m too old.” and “That’s just the way I am”.

Additional motivational cds include Jack Canfield’s 14 audio cds collection entitled “Maximum Confidence, 10 Secrets of Extreme Self-Esteem”; “ Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” by Napoleon Hill; “Think Big and Kick Ass in Business and Life” by Donald Trump (8 hours); “Me, Inc., How to Master the Business of Being You” by Scott W. Ventrella (4 hours); and “Secrets to Millionaire Success” by Tracy Brian (14 cds).

The next time you have a long and solitary drive, plan ahead by visiting the library to check out a few hours of motivational programs. Multi-tasking can make the trip seem shorter.
