Readers' Advisory Services

Been in a reading rut and need a change of pace? Read everything in a favorite series and need something to read until the next book is released? Not sure what books are best for the young adult reader in your life? As Readers' Advisor for the Columbus Public Library, I am happy to help you find what to read next. By phone, e-mail, or in person, I can help you find new-to-you titles that fit your reading preferences.
You can contact me at 402-564-7116. If you prefer,
you can e-mail me at
rmcphil@columbusne.us or stop by the
library.

CPL Book Discussion Group
The Columbus Public Library hosts a book
discussion each month. This group is open to
everyone; no invitation necessary. Books on the
reading list are selected by discussion group
members.. Membership does not obligate
attendance each month. Join us when you can!

Generally, the library will not have enough
copies of a particular book for each member of a
book club. Rather than purchasing a personal
copy, a book club member can ask the library to
order a book through a service called
"Interlibrary Loan." Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available to registered users of the Columbus Public Library or the Columbus Bookmobile. ILL request forms are available at the Reference desk and the Circulation counter. Requests can also be made by phone. Most items are available within ten days of the request. Titles published within the previous twelve months may not be available from another library.
During the month it is to be discussed, the fee for interlibrary loan will be waived for the CPL Book Discussion Group’s selected title. If you take advantage of the free ILL, I encourage you to attend the meeting and enjoy the discussion..
There are several book clubs in our community
and we are happy to assist them with book
selection and Interlibrary Loan.
